Given the pervasiveness of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in every aspect of our lives, there is an urgent need for concrete action to address the harms from these powerful technologies and ensure the benefits from AI are distributed equitably to all, not just a select few. However, we cannot have a meaningful discussion about AI without the inclusion of women and other marginalized groups, that have been historically underrepresented in the tech industry.
Women in AI Ethics™ launched in 2018 with the publication of the first 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics™ list by Mia Shah-Dand, founder of Lighthouse3 to recognize talented women, especially the hidden figures in this space. This list is now published annually to highlight pioneers as well as rising stars from diverse backgrounds and also available as a free online directory.
