A Day in the Life of – WAIE Mentoring Program

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be an AI Policy expert or a Responsible AI manager? The rapid adoption of AI has led to many new and emerging roles in AI, which are critical to ensuring that AI has the right guardrails to minimize its harms and maximize its benefits.

Women in AI Ethics™ (WAIE) is a global community of AI researchers, privacy advocates, industry professionals, artists, and other diverse experts working hard to keep humanity safe from the unintended consequences and harms of AI.

WAIE mission is aligned with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals including SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 10: Reduce Inequalities, and SDG 16: Promoting peace, justice, and strong institutions.

As part of our mission to support women, who are underrepresented in the tech industry, WAIE has launched a 1-day mentoring program that allows students and professionals, who are new to this field, experience the role of an AI expert by shadowing them as they go about their working day.

This program is only currently offered in New York to university and college students from marginalized and underrepresented communities. Placement is subject to the availability of funding and sponsorship by host organizations.
